Julia (Judy) Boldin Cox, widow of Haskins Cox, went to her heavenly home
December 16, 2024. She was born June 3, 1932, near Chase City to Walter and Blanche
Boldin. She was sixth in a family of eight.
A graduate of Chase City High School, Judy attended Mary Washington College
and graduated from the University of Virginia. She was a dedicated elementary school
teacher in Mecklenburg County for 18 years. She married Emmett (Haskins) Cox on
October 21, 1951.
Music was a very important part of Judy’s life, whether playing piano in church,
singing in glee club at college, being a choir director for many years or singing in her
church choir. Judy’s love of flowers was evident inside and outside of her home.
She and Haskins were passionate horse enthusiasts and often traveled with their
horses and some friends to the Blue Ridge Mountains to ride.
Judy had a strong faith, and was an active member of Black Branch, Boydton
Baptist and Concord Baptist Church. Her devotion to her places of worship was a
significant aspect of her life.
Judy is survived by her loving daughter, Janet Cox Snee and son Tim Cox (Lee).
Judy was a cherished grandmother to Mackie LeFevre-Snee (Rachel), Beth Snee
Sanchez (Dan), Walter Cox (Christina), and James Cox (Tanya). Her memory will
continue to live on through her seven great-grandchildren: Noah, Abram and Eva
Sanchez, Haskins LeFevre-Snee, Mallory and Adeleine Cox and Peyton Cox. Judy is
also survived by her brother Harold Boldin (Phoebe) and many beloved nieces and
nephews.
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Haskins Cox, her parents
Walter and Blanche Boldin, her son Danny Cox, her sister Madeline Boldin Gardner and
her brothers Max, Ernest, Jack, John, and Hal Boldin and her son-in-law Chad Snee.
A memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held at Concord Baptist Church, 11650 Highway 47, Chase City
on December 28, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to
Concord Baptist Church cemetery fund. Wood Funeral Service is assisting the family
with funeral arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.woodfuneralservice.com.
