Jessie often tells me the story of how he and Steve met. Jessie was the new kid in school and a boy began fighting him. Steve came to the rescue and whipped the bully and a friendship was born that lasted their entire lives. We are thinking of you all during this difficult time. Respectfully, Kimberly Clark Moore & Jessie H. Moore

Debbie and Kathy, Words cannot express the sense of loss I feel. Steve and I became friends the first day I lived in South Hill and we have been friend for 50 years. I can't think of any other friendship, other than Tommy Watson, that I have kept in contact with. Steve will be sorely missed by many. Kathy you were the big sister I never had and I know Steve loved you and cherished you. Debbie I am so glad Steve had you in his life. He truly loved you and loved your boys too. I can truly say Steve Hatchell was my brother from another mother if there ever was such a thing. I loved the man, and I loved ya'll for sharing your lives with him.

Dear Debbie, Kathy, Matthew and Sean, Jim and I are deeply saddened by Steve's passing. I know that Kathy deeply loved her brother and of course Debbie and the boys too. I have always admired Steve for being a Veteran. I know he will be greatly missed. We wish that we had gotten to know him a little better but we know he was a good person, husband, step-father and brother. Please take comfort that he is finally at home with his parents in heaven and that he is blessed. We are all blessed for knowing Steve. With Love, Cindy and Jimmy Ambrose

Kathy and Debbie , I am so sorry for your loss . Steve was a lifelong friend and I thought of him and all of you often. I know there is nothing I could say to ease your pain right now , just know I am thinking of each of you and what you are going through with Steve's passing. I hope God will bless you and ease your sorrow.
