I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. There is a very comforting scripture found at Isaiah 25:8. It says that soon Jehovah will swallow up death forever and that he will wipe away all of the tears. So we can look forward to a time when death will be done away with forever. I hope that this scripture can bring some comfort during this time.

Part of the Boydton crowd, I have known Charles and his sister Brenda since I was a little girl. My family has pictures of birthday parties at their house, and I can still see Charles waiting for a piece of Brenda's white cake with roses. I'd also see Charles when I visited or stayed the night with Kathy Blalock, his long-time neighbor, and games of tag or kick-the-can were great fun in those backyards. Living in a small town that held more female that male children, Charles became the object of affection for many a classmate. My younger sister loved him, as did other classmates Donna Ricketson and Lisa Allgood. Charles took their childhood jealousies in stride and became lifelong friends to all of them. Always a good friend, Charles proved himself to be a good man--Intelligent, hard-working, able to tell a story, and brave. His love for Karen and Ethan and those with whom he was closest kept Charles strong even in his sickness. My heart goes out to all who love Charles. May God comfort and keep you.

Our community has lost a special person. Charles was a generous and caring person who never met a stranger. Charles was willing to give you the shirt off his back if needed, no questions asked. We would love to have gone by and visited, but respected his wishes. That didn't stop us from honking the horn or waving when we went by. We all have our own fond memories of Charles. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.
