Betty was like a sister to me -- I knew her for more than 40 years. She was there for me during the most difficult times of my life. She and Gene were two people in my life that I think of as "ordinary saints" -- both lived lives of total service to others. She was never judgmental and loved you "just as you are." No better woman ever lived. She will be missed deeply.

What a sweet and loving person Betty was! She and husband, Gene, helped me along very early in my ministry. I’ve never forgotten it. Betty was a go-getter with tremendous compassion for developmentally disabled adults, creating venues and opportunities for them wherever she lived. She has been a gift to so many over the years in a number of places. She has been a blessing by touching the lives of those least able to make a way for themselves. May God grant strength and peace to the family in this time of loss.

Betty was not only the wife of our pastor, she was my friend! So many wonderful memories come forth when I think of this family. I believe the last time I saw Betty was when they made a special trip to Emporia to attend my 80th birthday celebration! Rest in peace, my friend, and I pray God's blessings on her family as they cherish the memories of a wonderful wife, mother, and "Yaya"! Sending my love and prayers.
