Mrs. Bessie Lankford Tharpe, 82, of Saxe, died July 5, 2013. She was the widow of Nelson Irving Tharpe and a retired employee of Jonbil. She is survived by her daughter, Rita G. Tharpe of Prospect Hill, NC, son and daughter-in-law, T. Dale Tharpe and Donna of Saxe, brothers, Hugh Lankford of Chase City, Charlie Lankford of Clarksville, special niece and her husband, Joan and Richard Wallace, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Wood Funeral Service Sunday at 1:00 p.m. with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the home of Joan and Richard Wallace.
