James Gordon Reese, 87, of Chase City, died October 21, 2013. He was a retired employee of Hampco Apparel and a staff member of Wood Funeral Service. He was a WWII Army veteran, a charter member of Chase City Rescue Squad having served as treasurer for 40 years and a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Reese, son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Juanita Reese of Chase City; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Gary Newton of Skipwith, sister, Ruby Chumney of Chase City; grandchildren, Tyler Reese of Chase City and Jacob Newton of Charlottesville. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Foster and Rev. Jason Hay officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
