F. Whitney Bugg, 89, of Chase City, died November 13, 2013. He was retired owner of Sparkle Cleaners, Inc., an Army veteran of WWII and received the Purple Heart, a charter member of VFW Post 8228 and a member of American Legion Post 43, a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, a member of Mecklenburg Country Club and also served on Chase City Town Council in the early 1960’s. He was predeceased in death in January by his wife, Nora P. Bugg and is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Ricky Bugg of Chase City; Glenn Bugg and wife, Tracy of South Hill; brother, Pickett Bugg of Skipwith, Sam Bugg and wife, Helen of Clarksville; grandchildren, Sean Bugg, Meghann Bugg and Briana Bugg. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Wood Funeral Service from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Marsha Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church.
