Richard Henry Wallace, 68, of Drakes Branch left this world to join his heavenly father in his mansion in the sky on December 20, 2013 after a long battle with kidney cancer. Richard was retired from Stanley Land and Lumber Company where he worked as a mechanic and jack of all trades for 30 years. He was a member of Keysville Evangelical Methodist Church and served the Lord for over 40 years. He was youth leader and Sunday School Superintendent. One of his greatest joys was witnessing to others about his love for the Lord and working with the youth. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, George Russell and Mollie Lacks Wallace and his beloved sister and brother, Mattie Lou Gollhardt and George Russell Wallace, Jr. and is survived by his wife, Joan who was the love of his life and soul mate for 48 years, daughter, Candi Wallace, who was always just a step behind him, his loving and devoted grandchildren, Ashley Wallace (Pa Pa’s little buddy), Tyler Wallace ( Pa Pa’s right hand), and great grandson, Dawson Wallace (Pa Pa’s little man), all of Drakes Branch, an honorary daughter, Karen Gollhardt and granddaughter, Alexis Carrol from Midlothian, his beloved goddaughter, Tiffany Dunaway of Keysville, sisters and brothers, Barbara Lacks and Jimmy, Red Oak, Betty Phillips, Martinsville, Ginny Hazelwood and Otis, Randolph, Roger “Buck” Wallace and Annette, Hopewell, Berta “Dutch” Duffer and Ray, Keysville, and a host of devoted nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and loved ones 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Service and where services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday. Interment will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
