Nell B. Stimac, 103, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. A longtime resident of Norfolk, she was born in Chase City, Virginia to the late John Noble and Sallie Spencer Bigger. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Tony Stimac. She was a graduate of Longwood College and Columbia University. After many years of service, she retired from Norfolk Public Schools as Art supervisor. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (Old Donation Chapter, Norfolk) and the Daughters of the Confederacy (Armistead Goode Chapter, Chase City, Virginia.) Survivors include, Kay Smith and husband, Marion of Chesapeake and Billie Learoyd and husband, Robert of Raleigh, NC, two great nieces, Carol Learoyd of Raleigh and Kristin Blackwell and husband, Jonathan of Chapel Hill, NC, great nephew, Wes Learoyd of Raleigh, two great-great nieces, Avery Blackwell and Alexis Learoyd, and numerous cousins. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City.
