Charles Thomas “Tom” Wilburn Sr. age 72, widower of Peggy Fitzhery Nelson Wilburn, of Lehigh Acres, FL, formerly of Richmond, VA and Beaverdam, VA passed away on April 5, 2015 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Ft. Myers, FL. He is survived by his only son, Charles Thomas “Tommy” Wilburn, Jr., daughter Denise Garret, his childrens mother, Gloria Blanks Wilburn all of Clarkesville, VA, brother Billy Wilburn (Nadine) of Rock Springs, WY, sister Shirley Jean Putze Penson of Colonial Heights, VA, uncle Billy Wilburn of Richmond, grandson, Shawn Nunn (Nikki) of Richmond, VA, and his 3 nieces. He was the son of the late William E. Wilburn, Sr. and Dorothy Williams Wilburn Putze, raised in Richmond’s Oregon Hill, The Fan and Southside and went to John Marshall H.S.. He was a service technician for Reynolds Metals, Phillip Morris, Dupont, Boxes to Size and lastly for Wright Corporation at G.D. Packaging all in Richmond. He served in the US Air Force and was an avid traveler, scuba diver and sailed his beloved sailboat at The Rivah for many years out of Locklies Marina in Topping, VA. A military graveside service will be held on May 7, 2015 in Rankin, IL. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that you not vote for Hilliary Clinton in 2016 as he was a huge Republican and to make memorial donations to your local Humane Society or SPCA.
