Roy Thomas Wootton, age 70, of Chase City died August 19, 2015. He was the widower of Arlene McKinney Wootton and co-founder of Wootton Brothers Greenhouse. He was a member and deacon of Black Branch Baptist Church and was awarded American Farmer of the Year in 1962 by the FFA. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Jeff Jones of Chase City, Sandy and Stacy Herndon of Midlothian, brother and sister-in-law, John and Glenda Wootton of Chase City, grandchildren, Ethan Jones, Elijah Jones, Arabella Herndon and Liliayna Herndon. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Wood Funeral Service. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Black Branch Baptist Church with interment to follow in Woodland Cemetery. Wood Funeral Service is serving the family.
