Emily Jane Neal Thomas, 85, of Chase City, passed away February 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Eustace Thomas, Jr., her parents, William Bryan Neal and Elsie Douglas Payne Neal, sisters, Kay Peterson, Mildred Eubank, Doris Jennings, Garnett Milton, brothers, Norwood Neal, Page Neal, and grandson, Christopher Thomas. Emily was an active and devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Chase City. She served as a member of the Chase City Rescue Squad Auxiliary, Food Pantry volunteer, worked the election poles, and at the South Central Fair exhibit hall. Emily also worked for Virginia Farm Bureau in Boydton and Goodwill Industries of Chase City. She is survived by her sons, Dr. William Lynn Thomas and wife Carol, Steve Thomas and wife Sandra, Gary Thomas and wife Diane, Dana Thomas and wife Valerie, youngest brother, Harold Neal, grandchildren, Elizabeth Spencer and husband Brandon, Erin Spence and husband Ben, Russell Thomas and wife Jodi, Ryan Brankley and wife Jessica, Laura Medina and husband Travis, Craig Thomas and wife Keena, Lane Thomas and wife Natalie, Heather Thomas, Brody Thomas, Brinley Thomas, great grandchildren, Ellie Spencer, Emme Spencer, Taylor Thomas, Katelyn Thomas, Vance Spence, Henry Thomas, Carter Brankley, Caleb Brankley, and Mia Medina.  Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Chase City First Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Wood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oak View Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cullen, VA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chase City Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 81, Chase City, VA.  Wood Funeral Service is serving the family.
