Steve A. Upton, 69, of Boydton, died August 26, 2017. He was a tobacco and cattle farmer and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Steve also served on the board of directors of Mecklenburg County Farm Bureau and treasurer of the Southern Virginia Beef Alliance. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Upton, sons, Steve Upton, Jr. and wife, Sara, Jody Upton and wife, Jean, mother and step-father, Alice and Bill Bilbo, brothers, Roger Upton, Billy Upton, Rev. Phillip Upton and Michael Upton, sister, Cora Shearin, grandchildren, Steve Upton, III, Whitney Upton, Jody Upton, Jr., Johnathan Upton, Jordan Upton, and Jacob Upton, great grandchildren, Taylee Upton and Brayden Upton. The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Monday evening  at Bethel Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Hester  and Rev. Phillip Upton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
