CHARLES LENWOOD GARNETT, age 51, of Boydton, passed away June, 6, 2018. Charles was the owner of Boydton Farm Supply and former owner and founder of Plantation Dog Food.
He is survived by his wife, Karen L. Garnett, son Ethan Walston Garnett of Boydton, Virginia. Sister, Brenda Garnett Ford (Wesley) of Dunn Loring Virginia, nieces, Victoria Garnett Ford of Charlotte, NC, and Christina Marie Ford of Fairfax, Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, Lenwood C. Garnett of Boydton, Virginia, and Maxine A. Puster of Middletown, Virginia.
He was the long time owner/operator of Boydton Farm Supply and Garnett Properties, also founder and former owner of Plantation Dog Food Company where he grew a small start-up dog food company into the largest selling sporting dog food brands in the U.S. with dealerships from Michigan to Florida. He was an astute, honest businessman and was an extremely trusted and loyal supplier. He lived the same way as he dealt in business which was with truth, honor, and humility. He treated all with whom he dealt, with honesty and respect. Because of that he had a huge and extremely loyal dealership network. He cared deeply about his dealers and friends, and they became more like family over time.
Charles was a 1989 graduate of Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. He earned Bachelor Degrees in both Business Finance and Marketing. Charles was an avid hunter and a founding member of the Eastland Creek Hunt Club. But, he can mostly be remembered locally as a diehard Virginia Tech Football fan where he lived and breathed every play of his Virginia Tech Hokies.
