Alice Lavourne Smith Ligon, age 88, entered heavenly rest May 5, 2022 at her home of Buffalo
Junction, Va. Alice was the daughter of the late Graham Alexander Smith and Onie Rash Smith.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee “Bobby” Ligon, eldest son, Robert
Barry Ligon and brother, Willard Lee Smith.
Family left to cherish her memory are, her youngest son, Terry Lee Ligon, (Teresa), grandsons
Robert Alexander Ligon and Brandon Lee Ligon, and grandchildren, Crystal Ann Ligon, James
Robert Ligon, Elaine Marie Ligon and Erin Michele Ligon. Three great grandchildren, Harley Daniel
Ligon, Jonah Robert Ligon, and Isaac Ryan Ligon, along with nieces and nephews, special cousins,
very special family friends who were like sisters, and many church friends.
Alice was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Skipwith, Va. during her youth and after she
married, she moved her membership to Buffalo Baptist Church in Buffalo Junction, Va.
Alice and Bobby were married 67 years and were devoted to each other and their family.
Alice’s world revolved around her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sunday lunch was
an on- going tradition until the Covid pandemic. Everyone was welcomed and greeted with a big
smile. Her heart was happy when her family was with her.
Alice had some very special friends, many she called “ her sisters”. She enjoyed talking on the
phone with her friends, reading, and gospel music.
Alice was a faithful, prayer warrior. She and Bobby continued their daily devotions and prayers as
long as they were able, she sent cards to those in the community that needed uplifting or to just
let them know she cared and wished them a blessed day.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, at Buffalo Baptist Church, followed by
grave side service. The family will be available after the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

23927 or donations to the Buffalo Baptist Cemetery Fund, Clarksville Museum, or Clarksville
Rescue Squad.
