Raymond D. Toone, age 86, of Chase City passed away October 23, 2022. Ray was born in Chase City, Virginia on January 17, 1936 to the late William Dudley Toone & Lena Inge Toone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Toone. Ray is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Toone; daughters, Leslie Tucker of Chase City, Virginia, Laura Ekovich (Eric) of Sneads Ferry, North Carolina, LuAnn Morrow (Bobby) of Richmond, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Kim Toone of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren, Richard McSpadden, Tiffany McSpadden, Jayson Ekovich (Katie), Jaclyn Sterling (Marshall), Jordan Grubb (Alex), Anna Martin (Chris), Christian Morrow, Katie Morrow, and Alex Toone; great grandchildren, Camron Fritter, Dorian Wood, Noah Wood, Lily Belden, Colt Sterling, Alena Grubb, and Zoey McSpadden. Ray was an active member of First Baptist Church of Chase City where he served as a trustee for 15 years, a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and on various committees. Ray served as treasurer for the Chase City food pantry and volunteered with the Salvation Army for many years. Ray worked for the Navel Security Station in Washington D.C. for 25 years and served in the Air Force for 10 years. Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 29, 2022, at First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 206 E. Second St. Chase City, Va. 23924.
