Jake Robert Miles, age 17, tragically passed away the evening of December 3rd 2022, in Hampton, VA. He gained his wings and went into eternal rest after only 17 short years of being present here with us on Earth. Jake was born in South Hill, Virginia on the longest day of the year, June 21st, 2005. He is preceded in death by his namesake and grandfather, Jason “Jake” David Cole. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his mother, Penny Gale Cole Miles, of Hampton, VA; his father, Stephen R. Miles; his sister, Maggie Violet Miles, of New York, New York; his brother, Dylan James Miles, of Arlington, VA and his sister Niki Rose Miles, of Hampton, VA. Also, left to cherish his memory are his two grandmothers Florence Paulett of Nottoway County, VA and Anne Miles Armienti of Westford, MA. Jake remains in the hearts of so many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, family friends, and friends who adored his life and soul.
Jake loved the outdoors and making friends everywhere he went. While he was with us he was a bright ray of sunshine in our family. He loved “anything with wheels” as my momma says. Jake loved to ride his bmx bikes, visit new places, and he loved the beach. He always had music playing and was usually singing or rapping everywhere he went. He could be found sitting on the beach during the sunrise or sunset, or in the bay swimming or skim boarding.
A graveside service will be held at Aaron’s Creek Baptist Cemetery, 1066 Aarons Creek Rd, Virgilina, Va. 2:00 pm Friday, December 9, 2022, alongside his grandfather. Jake will also be memorialized at his favorite spot, “The Stage”, at Buckroe Beach Park in Hampton, VA on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 4:00 pm. He was a caring brother, son, and grandson, and his love was reciprocated by his family. We will forever carry on his memories in our hearts and minds and will never forget the memories we created and never stop telling his story. Wood Funeral Service, Chase City, is serving the family.
