Shelby Orr Gill (Buffy) of Chase City, VA passed away Saturday August 24, 2024.  She was born in South Boston, VA on July 24, 1973, to parents, Kenny and Cathy Orr.  She graduated from Bluestone Sr. High School in 1991. She then obtained a BA and Master’s degree in Reading Literacy to become an Elementary Reading Specialist in the Mecklenburg County School System where she worked for 27 years. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert Chadwick Gill (Chad); daughter Kristen Tilson (Blake) of Roxboro NC, daughter Kailey Gill of Chase City, son Koehen Gill of Chase City; grandchildren Easton Kretzschmar, Dawsyn Tilson, and Gracyn Tilson; her parents Kenny and Cathy Orr; brother Chad Orr; and all of her beloved students.

We would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at VCU Health CMH Hendrick Cancer and Radiation Center of South Hill, who always took great care of her!

A Celebration of Life will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 29,2024 at New Hope Baptist Church, 2526 New Hope Rd, Skipwith VA 23968.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mecklenburg County Cancer Association, MCCA, P.O.
