Horace Harvey Moore “Red”, age 100, of Drakes Branch passed away December 22, 2024. Red was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed many years on the Stanton River and Buggs Island Lake. He was born and raised on a tobacco farm and enjoyed raising tobacco for many years of his life. Later on, he was employed in the Textile industry and retired as a supervisor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and reminiscing about the many changes that have taken place in the past 100 years. Red was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar F. Moore and Elva Allen Moore, and his wife Lucille Hensley Moore.

Surviving is his son, Ralph Moore (Lana); daughter, Brenda M. Wilson (Roger); sons, Kenneth Moore, Jim Moore (Lauri); 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, close family friend, Rosa Langford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Hebron Church, 111 Hebron Church Rd. Saxe, Va 23967. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Drakes Branch Fire Department, PO Box 323, Drakes Branch, VA 23937 or Bacon Dist.
