John Woodrow Ellington, 94, of Chase City, died June 11, 2013. He was the widower of Mildred Louise Ellington and Onie “Toodlie” Ellington. He was a WWII Navy veteran, a lifetime member of Chase City Volunteer Fire Department, a member of American Legion Post 43, and a retired sales clerk with the Alcohol Beverage Control Board. He is survived by his son, Woody Ellington and wife, Paulette of Powhatan, daughters, Margie Pugh of Madisonville and Patty Tucker of Saxe, grandchildren, Robbie Ellington of Powhatan, Patty Oakley of Richmond, great grandchildren, Kenny Ellington, Ross Ellington, Trevor Ellington, and Tony Collins. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. with services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
