Charlie Marvin Moore, 96, of Skipwith, died November 16, 2014. He was the son of the late Joseph M. and Edna Winn Moore of Skipwith, preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Doris Y. Moore, and also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Moore, and sister, Rosa Thames He was a retired Burlington Industries employee, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of WWII where he served as a Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Moore was also one of the oldest remaining survivors of Pearl Harbor. He is survived by his sons, Douglas Moore of Chase City, Michael Moore of Goldsboro, NC, Steven Moore of South Boston, daughter, Brenda Carmichael and husband Ike of Chesterfield, grandchildren, Debbie Moore of Charlotte, Kim Harper of South Hill, Tim Moore of Nashville, TN, Amy Carter of Henrico, great grandchildren, Samantha Thompson, Harrison Harper and Charli Ann Moore. The family will receive friends 7:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Service and where services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Randy Holmes officiating, Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Chase City Rescue Squad, PO Box 81, Chase City, VA 23924.
