Virginia Bohannon Lankford, 85, was ushered into her next adventure in Heaven by the Angels on
Friday, December 17, 2021. She was born on September 5, 1936, to the late Andrew Haney and
Betty Parrish Bohannon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings Harry
Bohannon, Betty King, Patty Watson, Nellie Hazelwood, and Charles Bohannon, in addition to three
husbands, Tony Moorefield, Hugh Lankford, and Eugene Kuhn.
Mrs. Lankford is survived by a daughter, Jane Kuhn of Lynchburg, and two sons, Robert Lankford
(Wendy) of Red Oak and Mark Lankford (Angie) of Clover; three grandchildren, Cassie Lankford
(Reagan Roark) of Meherrin, Heather Lankford (Thomas Nichols) of Mt. Laurel, and Chad Lankford
of Clover; and three great-grandchildren, Scarlett Hatcher of Meherrin and Saylor and Gemma
Nichols of Mt. Laurel.
She is also survived by a brother, Andrew H. Bohannon, Jr. of Amelia; two sisters, Lillian Osborne of
Wylliesburg and Dallas Abernathy of Kenbridge; a special niece, Joan Wallace of Drakes Branch; and
a special friend, Ida Wilmouth of Clover.
Mrs. Lankford worked at Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp. in Victoria and Armstrong World Industries in
Keysville before retiring from Virginia International Raceway in Alton.
She loved Angels and Jesus, as well as life, laughter, her children, grandchildren, great-
grandchildren, and her many friends. She touched countless lives and never met a stranger, giving
generously of her heart, time, and talent to those she loved and to her beloved church, Concord
Baptist.
Her strength, courage, perseverance, and resiliency saw her through multiple challenges during her
life, including a near-death experience in 1995 during which Angels surrounded her and serenaded
her…a Divine experience which stayed with her for the duration of her life.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lankford will be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 2 p.m. at Concord
Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested for her favorite charity,
Barksdale Cancer Foundation, P. O. Box 225, Charlotte Court House, VA 23923. Wood Funeral
Service of Chase City is serving the family.
